ADHD Tutoring: Learning Through Strengths and Interests

At Enabling Minds, we understand that ADHD is not a behavioural problem—it’s a different way of experiencing the world. And with the right environment, support, and connection, children with ADHD can thrive not just academically, but emotionally and socially too.

We don’t view ADHD through a lens of deficit. Instead, we embrace it as a brain wired for interest, novelty and creativity—an interest-based nervous system, as explored in our recent blog post. This insight is central to how we teach.

What Makes Our ADHD Tutoring Different?

We’re a small, specialist team—not a tutor directory. Every learner is supported by one of us: three experienced SEND professionals, all qualified at Masters level and with extensive real-world classroom experience.

And our understanding runs deep. One of our team members is proudly ADHD themselves, bringing both lived experience and professional expertise to the work we do. This helps us connect with children authentically, with empathy, creativity and humour.

Our Approach to ADHD Support

  • Interest-led learning
ADHD brains thrive on curiosity and connection. We use learners’ passions as the starting point for teaching, which builds motivation and deepens engagement.

  • Executive functioning coaching
We support learners to develop tools for planning, organisation, focus and time management—building these skills in manageable, confidence-boosting ways.

  • Emotionally safe sessions
Our tutoring is built on trust, predictability and emotional co-regulation—so learners can take risks, express themselves and feel safe to grow.

  • Celebrating neurodivergent strengths
We highlight and build upon ADHD strengths like verbal reasoning, imagination, problem-solving and empathy—affirming children for who they are, not just what they do.

Flexibility That Fits

We offer in-person ADHD tutoring across Greater Manchester, Stockport, and Macclesfield, and also work online across the UK. Wherever your child learns best, we adapt to meet them there.

A Joined-Up, Family-Centred Approach

Supporting a child with ADHD isn’t just about the lesson—it’s about the whole system around them. We work closely with families to understand each learner’s profile, share strategies, and provide consistent, non-judgemental guidance along the way.
